Wood Carving with Yo Takimoto

We took a wood carving class at Tortosie on Sunday. Sensei Yo Takimoto travels between Japan and America giving casual lessons on traditional wood carving.



First you pick your wood. He encourages you to pick not based on what you want to make but what piece calls out to you. My pick was a piece giant sequoia.



Next, being my first time Takimoto sensei chops the corners down for me.



Based on this starting point I thought It my become a spoon.



As I started to carve it down and with Takimoto sensei's guidance and help it became a butter knife.



After extensive sanding, bees wax is applied to seal and protect the wood.



My finished butter knife! We plan to go back again.

Xbox 360 is Dead



My Xbox 360 is dead. I got the "ring of death" and it is no more. Luckily I had 4 more days left on my warranty.

Mr. Baguette




Mr. Baguette in Rosemead, French-Vietnamese sandwiches. I had the grilled chicken and iced milk coffee. Strong coffee and good food!
