Osamu Goods

Just picked up this book from the Giant Robot Store. Osamu Goods Style is a collection of products illustrated and designed by Osamu Harada. Full of "cute" characters on a range of products. His designs are inspired from the America of the 50's and 60's. The book contains items he created during the 1980's when Japan was in the "bubble" period. In the 90's after collapse of the economy he licenesed his characters out and has very little to do with the products being produced today in Japan.

Eishi Takaoka

Polaroid SX-70

Went to see a show by Eishi Takaoka at GR2. Cool little wood carved heads, if you are in West L.A. check it out. My Polaroid jammed after this photo, the black line was a bad sign. I had to pull out the film and lost 3 shots.

Tony Takitani

Sony DSC-P1

I saw Tony Takitani over the weekend. Tony Takitani is based on the short story by Haruki Murakami. If you have a chance to see it check it out. If you are in a really sad or lonely mood you may want to pass. The movie is a short 75 minutes and I wanted more. The movie does have a slightly more happy ending than the original story but it works well. The soundtrack by Ryuichi Sakamoto is perfect. I hope it come out on DVD in the US.
Here is the original New Yorker short story and the Official Film site
